Checkmate patterns explained: Kill Box Mate

The kill box mate (also called the box mate) is a checkmate pattern where a rook and king work together to deliver checkmate. The attacking king controls the escape squares while the rook delivers the final check along a rank or file, creating a box-like trap around the enemy king. This is a fundamental endgame mating technique.
