Checkmate patterns explained: Anastasia Mate
Anastasia's mate is a checkmate pattern where a knight and rook (or queen) work together to trap the king on the edge of the board. The knight controls the escape squares while the rook delivers the final blow along the file. Named after the novel "Anastasia und das Schachspiel," this pattern often arises after a sacrifice on the h-file.
